Recapping Plein Wild: An L. Charleville Studios & Ellen Ogden Collaboration

Recapping Plein Wild: An L. Charleville Studios & Ellen Ogden Collaboration

My dear friend, and fellow Louisiana artist, Ellen Ogden, and I kicked off Plein Wild with an evening full of color, conversation, and community. Ellen and I couldn’t be more grateful for the folks who came out to the Poydras Center to celebrate this show (and the spirit behind it) with us! This show started with a shared love for process, paint-stained hands, quiet moments outdoors, and being fully present in the experience of making.

Plein Wild is the story of two artists who work differently but think the same:

  • “Plein” for Ellen, who captures landscapes and light in bold, expressive brushstrokes!
  • “Wild” for me, printing the creatures of the coast with all their textures and truths!

Collectively, Plein Wild honors place, movement, and the beauty of just paying attention.

One of our favorite moments from the evening? Unveiling a collaborative piece that brought our two styles together, wildlife meets landscape, paint meets print. Her name is Iris Ascending, and you can see her hanging proudly in the exhibit now!

Ellen and I poured our hearts into this show, and seeing it all come together was something special. If you’re local (or feel like a little road trip), come walk through it in person! You’ll see new works from both of us (L. Charleville Studios + Ello Artist), each grounded in a love for Louisiana’s wildness and light.
